I wanted to learn Japanese so much because I love to watch Japanese dramas. Also, Japan is my favourite place for vacation. However, I was not able to communicate with anyone over there as Japanese know so little English in general. I take the course at QLS because of the small class size. At the beginning, I found it very difficult to memorize the hiragana & katakana. But later found out that it helps a lot when going up to the next level. The teacher is really good in terms of explaining grammar and use of vocabulary. Also, he is fluent in both English and Japanese and helps us a lot in understanding the grammar difference between English & Japanese. In addition, we are able to work on a lot of role plays in a small class size. This helps us to practice speaking |
in Japanese. In addition, the teacher would also use DVDs to explain differences between the use of Japanese in textbook and real life. He also put a lot of effort to make learning materials for the class. This further enhances our listening and reading skill beside the ones from the textbook.
I had been learning Japanese at QLS for 6 months and this has been such a tremendous experience. Learning Japanese is so much fun at QLS! |

| Hi I am Elaine and have been studing Japanese at QLS for a few months. I
have always wanted to learn Japanese but did not take the time to do so.
Finally I took actions and compared a few other places which I can learn
Japanese in Toronto. I picked QLS because it is simply one of the best
choices in terms of the price, class size, locations etc. After a few
class, it proves that I have made the right decision. The class size is
small so you can practise role play and get the necessary attention as
well as having the opportunities to ask questions. The teacher is great! The fact that he speaks fluent English helps a lot. Even though I find |
|
|
| the
progress went fairly fast in the first few lessons but slowly once I grasp
the basic concept then I am able to catch up. Japan is always one of the
favorite places to visit and this course definitely helps me in
communicating with the locals when I visit Japan. I would receommed QLS to
anyone who are interested to
learn Japanese in Toronto! |

My name is Everett and I've been studying Japanese at QLS for about four months now. After returning from a vacation to Japan in May, I was very eager to pick up some basic Japanese language skills so that I could better communicate when I vacation there again in 2009 (I loved it!). I stumbled on several options, but chose QLS because of the convenient schedule, and more importantly, the smaller classroom size. The class itself truly is a "Japanese Gym" with consistent opportunities to practice pronunciation, grammar, and sentence structure in a small, friendly, fast paced and truly fun environment. While the textbooks are used as a guide, the QLS Instructor makes important points as to how things are actually said/done in his native Japan, which will best prepare you for what to expect when you too make the trip there. After spending many years in university (both undergrad and graduate school), I didn't think I would ever want to take another class unless I truly enjoyed it - this is that class! Highly recommended! |

| I took one-on-one lessons at QLS Japanese Language GYM. I have to say that I couldn’t have had a better Japanese teacher. He catered to my specific situation: I only had seven lessons before I left for Japan, and needed to learn as much of the basics of Japanese as possible before leaving. Accordingly, we worked from a text called “Japanese for Busy People”. However, he taught me much more than I ever could have gained from the textbook alone. Importantly, he taught me the context in which to use specific terms, and alternatives to these terms, which I could not have learned from the book alone. He was also very willing to answer all of my questions and help me to learn specific phrases that I knew I would need to use in Japan, that were not necessarily in the text. His knowledge of English was very advanced, allowing me to ask him any questions I had, and allowing him to teach clearly. He also has a great sense of humor, and I really looked forward to attending each lesson. |

Even though retired it's never too late to learn another language and open up new worlds and ideas that would otherwise not be accessible if one did not have a grasp of the language involved. Through the determined and enjoyable help of QLS Japanese Language GYM I believe I can meet this new challenge on my upcoming trip to Japan. Surprisingly the Japanese language is not as technically difficult to learn compared to many other languages. What is needed to progress is practice, dilligence and native guidance. You cannot learn and apply Japanese from memorizing phrases in a travel book. Professional help is very important.

Hi, my name is Alan Irvine. I am planning on taking a one year working holiday to Japan and decided that it would be in my best interest to learn as much Japanese as possible before hand. Through some quick browsing on the internet I found QLS JAPANESE LANGUAGE GYM and signed up for lessons almost immediately because I was attracted to the small class sizes. By the time I finished my second lesson I was amazed at how much I had retained in such a short time simply because I have never learned another language in my life. I found that having a small class size allowed me to have a very relaxed experience with my teacher, and above all else I had fun doing it. I personally still have a little bit of trouble with sentence particles, but I still review what I have learned so far every day and am more than confident that I will be able to understand nihongo in no time. I would most certainly recommend QLS JAPANESE LANGUAGE GYM to anyone even thinking of taking a Japanese class.

My name is Tim Nau. I had private Japanese lessons from a QLS instructor in the fall of 2007 and found them very helpful. I had previously studied with another teacher, and had learned a certain amount of Japanese grammar and vocabulary, but this learning was very superficial. I found that my sessions with this QLS instructor helped me consolidate and extend the Japanese I already had, so that my capacities for speaking, reading and writing were all improved. I am interested in linguistics and comparative grammar, and I also found that he was always able to answer all my questions about how the Japanese language functions.

Hi, my name is Dyan. In preparation for my first business meeting with our Japanese customers in Japan, the president of our company suggested I take Japanese language and business etiquette lessons. At QLS, I was able to learn about both during my private lessons. I only had about a month before the meeting, but I was able to start at QLS right away and I was amazed at how much I learned within the first two weeks. Instead of the usual program and textbook, my instructor recommended the Japanese for Busy People text. The lessons were tailored to my preferences and to the speed that I was learning. Because of the individual attention, my pronunciation was well honed in a short time. I was able to construct sentences and I even started to read some characters. My instructor had over 15 years of business experience in Japan and he was able to advise me beyond the etiquette. He gave me some insight in to the Japanese business culture and gave me advice about our Japanese customers. I highly recommend QLS. I was able to learn a lot quickly and I really enjoyed the whole experience!

My name is Ranuff. I decided to take a Japanese class because I know nothing of kanji characters, and I was going to Japan for vacation. I found this QLS Japanese Gym class as I was browsing. the fact that it's only 6 students max really appealed to me. We went through the material pretty quickly, and that's exactly what I wanted. we practised what we learned in the class right away. the teacher-student interaction was great. For the same tuition fees as a college class, I learned more, practised more, and achieved more than a college class. talking about great deal, eh? I would certainly recommend this class to anyone thinking to learn Japanese.

Hi, my name is Joseph Wu. I have been studying Japanese with QLS since this June. I am totally a beginner; even though I am originated from Taiwan and most Konji are familiar for me, I still think Japanese’s grammars are very difficult. I like learning new languages, especially Japanese; maybe it is because I watch Japanese drama and read comic books. The beginning four classes are fairly straight forward; however, after that, the grammars start getting harder and confusing me. Moreover, I went back to Taiwan for two months during summer. In that two months, I forget many vocabularies and grammars. After I came back, I continued to learn Japanese with QLS. Thanks to QLS, my memory of Japanese refreshed in one lesson! QLS makes Japanese easier for us to remember and understand. Until now, I have been studying with QLS for two months, and I almost finish two third of first year Japanese course at university. Now, I can understand a little bit what drama is talking about without looking at the subtitles. Improvement can be shown without doubt. It is a great experience of learning Japanese with QLS. Highly recommend all of you who are interesting in Japanese GO LEARN IT AT QLS!!!!

Hi, my name is Britt and I've been studying Japanese at QLS. After my first twelve lessons here, I found that I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to continue. The classes are compelling and fascinating, and I am finding that I am learning much more than I had on my previous attempts at other institutions and on my own. The course material is relevant and presented in a clear, straight forward way. Also any help I have asked of my teacher when inquiring about visiting or studying in Japan has been given to me in a very satisfactory manner. I highly recommend this class. |

| My name is Suzanne Pragg. My experience at QLS Japanese Language GYM began a mere month before I was scheduled to leave for Japan to teach English. Now, as my classes draw to a conclusion I can say that I feel significantly more comfortable beginning my new life. I am able to introduce myself, greet others and carry on a basic conversation in Nihongo. The semi-private lessons that I took were extremely well-structured and easy to follow. The lessons were packed with information but it was not until we left each day that we realized how |
|
|
| much work we had done. The relaxed atmosphere at QLS helped us breeze through our lessons with no thought to how much we were learning. I also love the one-on-one attention that my colleague and I were able to enjoy. QLS Instructor made us both feel very comfortable with his patience, easy-going manner and sense of humour. We were both able to make mistakes without any embarrassment. I would recommend QLS Japanese Language GYM to anyone learning Japanese and who likes a small, intimate classroom environment. せんせい、Arigatou gozaimasu. |

| My name is Amy Baker. Learning Japanese was as difficult as I had originally assumed, but more fun than I could have ever imagined with QLS! The private lessons were not only rewarding but consistently encouraged me to want to learn more and continue improving both my written and oral skills. Being taught in a small classroom environment with only one other student and myself, was really beneficial as I got plenty of attention during the lesson times and all my questions were answered on the spot. Learning Japanese didn't feel like a chore or task, but rather, a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Every lesson was equally weighed between writing, grammar and communication, which I thought was very important as a beginner to the language. We went at a great pace, learning a lot every lesson but not to the point of feeling overwhelmed. The patient and understanding environment at QLS gave me the confidence to learn Japanese. Likewise, the textbook, 'Genki', will be of great use when I move to Japan in two weeks time. Thank you QLS for helping me prepare for this new adventure I am about to embark on and giving me the skills to continue moving forward! |

| My name is James Turner. I have been taking Japanese lessons at QLS Japanese Language GYM for a month and a half now and am delighted with the results! My wife and I are going to Japan to teach English and thought that we should learn as much Japanese as we could before leaving Toronto. After considerable research we decided on QLS because of their very reasonable prices, their flexible hours and start dates, and the fact that they offer private and semi-private lessons. After completing our first 8 |
|
| classes we decided to do another 8 because we were learning so much and having so much fun. Our QLS instructor is a very smart and experienced man. Calming to be around - we always look forward to seeing him twice a week. He is educated, flexible, funny, and very patient. We feel that our progress is important to him, and he challenges us more with every class. We are not just learning the language of Japan, we are gaining an insight into the mindset of the culture; how people really speak, think, and react. QLS is the real deal, and in his underplayed authenticity lies the success of his lessons. The textbook used, Genki, is an excellent resource and I am very glad that we will have a copy of it with us when we reach our destination in Japan. We have managed to cover a large amount of material in a relatively short period of time. I can't believe that I can already read and write Hiragana, Katakana (the two phonetic alphabets used in Japanese) and many Kanji. Nor can I believe how many things I can say and understand conversationally. Two months ago I would not have believed it if you told me it would be so. But here I am and “nihongo o wakarimasu” (I can understand Japanese.) I wish that we could take our instructor with us to be our language coach while in Japan but, unfortunately for us and fortunately for Toronto, he is staying here. I would very highly recommend this course, this company and this teacher. If you are thinking of taking Japanese lessons with QLS then you should do it!! You will have a great time. |

| My experience with QLS was truly amazing and memorable.
Learning language could not have been more interesting and fun.
Step by step, I could see my Japanese was being improved. I started as
a beginner, but I ended up as a person being able to communicate with the Japanese
without hesitation. Authentic materials used for the lessons were
really helpful, and it allowed me to be exposed to the living Japanese.
Now I'm planning to go to Tokyo for study, and I'm quite confident about my
Japanese! QLS surely gave me an enjoyment of learning Japanese! |

| My name is Joanne. I am a complete beginner in learning Japanese. I started the lesson this summer with QLS せんせい. It has been very interesting. At first, we learn the basic greeting and Hiragana, then Katakana and then grammar. The lesson is fun and active. We review the things we learned in the previous lesson at the beginning of each lesson, and QLS せんせい will also help us memorize all the adjectives, verbs, numbers and other vocabulary by communicating and interacting actively. It makes learning Japanese so much easier and enjoyable. We also have some exercise such as listening to CDs and doing some extra worksheets that help us memorize and be familiar with the concept and vocabulary. It is a really helpful and valuable lesson. Most importantly, it is very interesting and fun that makes us love the Japanese language even more. I can only say this is an awesome course that I will definitely keep on taking.
